Private Instruction

No two students are the same or have the same goals. Therefore, I tailor make the lessons to best fit the student's desired area of study. I place a lot of emphasis on developing a student's technique, harmonic and melodic concept, time keeping ability and groove.

I teach at my home (3 Garden Road, Alameda, CA 94502) or at the Jazzschool.

Lesson Rates

My lessons are one hour long and the fee is $80.00.

I teach both Electric and Acoustic Bass. I also teach Jazz Theory and Improvisation.

Professional Credentials

I attended Mannes College of Music and Berklee College of music. I studied privately with Buster Williams, George Marz, Homer Mensch, Mike Longo and Jon Burr.

Teaching Experience

I have taught Jazz bass and improvisation either privately or in a school situation since 1985 and ensembles since 1993. Presently, I am teaching at UC Berkeley, Chabot College, The Brubeck Institute and the Jazzschool.
